Don't know if I'm in the right place for this but My son's '04 GT is throwing 02 sensor codes.

(Moderator...Please re-direct me if I am in the wrong place-Thank You!)

I know that there are 4 of them and I believe that I can find them.:dunno: lol

Is it possible to use a V.O.M. (Multimeter) to find which one(s) might be bad?

Note: Just had a total rebuild on the trans (Auto) and this is the first time these codes have shown.

Appreciate any help we can get here.

Thank You!

Tony

Probably easier to just buy a $15 Bluetooth OBDII adapter and monitor the O2 behavior with software like Torque. Plus side to buying the adapter is you can check and clear codes yourself and monitor other engine/sensor info.

A DVM/VOM can check to see if the correct voltages are going to the O2 sensor, but not a lot beyond that.
A OBDII scanner (seperate unit, PC based or "smartphone based") can give the code which will tell you the exact part that has an issue.
You can also get the codes pulled for free from Autozone & some other parts places.

For most "regular peeps", there is no good way to test the actual sensor itself.

IIRC, the connectors can be interchanged and connected to the wrong o2 at least on bank1 (firewall side). Since there was recent major work done it may be possible that they didnt get reconnected correctly. At the least I would look over the wiring closely before spending the money on new ones. I remember seeing a video by I think scannerdan where he found two that had been switched.

Interesting theory and simple enough to check-will look at that first.

Charlie III- We have an OBDII Scanner and it indicates O2 sensor problems ( Son is not here right now-will find what the scanner spits out later.) He clears the code(s) but it comes back after a short time later. The car seems to drive well but that might just be a "false sense of security."

Will do some connector investigating as soon as it stops raining.
(Charlie can testify to that!) :wrenchin:

Best Regards,

Yeah, it's possible connectors got crossed. Does everything else work OK? I think one set of possible swapped connectors is the O2 & IAC(?), but you would then have idle issues as well.

The specific CEL will tell which O2 to look at, bank-1 or bank-2. Also upstream or downstream.

Yeppers, rained pretty good overnight, cloudy & misty most of the day. Then, it will be 80*F Sunday..... go figure....

I'm throwing O2 codes too. But the car drives fine, and I haven't gotten my lazy ass down to get the codes pulled yet. I misplaced my bluetooth obd reader. Doh!

I guess I'm just putting it off until it's closer to the time when I need to get it inspected. >.>

Hit up Autozone & get the codes. I may do a "meet & greet/install meet" at my house in the near future.
We have our Tib, then there's Pat, Fleetline, Keep_it_real(?), etc. Could be a fun day.

I have the full TB kit for my wifes Tib, just sorta waiting on weather to do it since I have no clue when it was last done......

We can do your's 1st so we know what to avoid on my wifes Tib....... ROTFLMAO.........

But yes, that's an option. Either use ZMR on here, or RockAuto for the whole kit. Don't forget coolant.

An exhaust leak would likely cause a p0174 dtc bank too lean or similar vs. the ones you pulled. Yours is likely the sensor itself or circuit malfunction like bad ground or poor connection.
